Object Summary
A medieval wooden angel, one of nine originally used to decorate St Edith’s Church in Grimoldby. This particular angel is one of three smaller angels and their exact original position in the church is unknown. They’re holding a book or shield and has been affectionately named ‘Gaby’ by the conservation 3rd year students. The wood has been badly damaged by pests and the legs rotted away so consolidation inside and out to stabilise the structure was required. There was also a fill on the left side of the head that required sanding and shaping to create a more aesthetically pleasing look.
